اتبعوا ما انزل اليكم من ربكم ولا تتبعوا من دونه اولياء قليلا ما تذكرون ٣

ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ ۗ قَلِيلًۭا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ ٣

رَّبِّكُمۡ

وَلَا

دُونِهِۦٓ

أَوۡلِيَآءَۗ

قَلِيلٗا

تَذَكَّرُونَ

Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and do not take others as guardians besides Him. How seldom are you mindful!

In both these readings, the verb (form V imperfect) is conjugated for the second person plural like the start of the verse.

يَتَذَكَّرُونَ

yatadhakkarūna

“Little do they take heed”

In this reading, the verb is conjugated for the third person plural, so the Prophet (ﷺ) is informed that few will heed his message.

Explanation:

These readings have complementary meanings. Ibn ʿĀmir's reading corresponds to the Levantine Codex with an additional letter.

He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
