They had already pledged to Allah earlier never to turn their backs ˹in retreat˺. And a pledge to Allah must be answered for.

Na kwa hakika, wanafiki hawa walimuahidi Mwenyezi Mungu kupitia kwa Mtume Wake kabla ya vita vya Shimo (Khandaq) kuwa hawatakimbia watakapohudhuria vita na hawatachelewa watakapoitwa kwenda Jihadi, lakini wao walihini ahadi yao. Na Mwenyezi Mungu Atawahesabu kwa hilo na Atawauliza kuhusu ahadi hiyo. Hakika ahadi ya Mwenyezi Mungu itaulizwa na itahesabiwa.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
