فان لم تفعلوا فاذنوا بحرب من الله ورسوله وان تبتم فلكم رءوس اموالكم لا تظلمون ولا تظلمون ٢٧٩
فَإِن لَّمْ تَفْعَلُوا۟ فَأْذَنُوا۟ بِحَرْبٍۢ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ ۖ وَإِن تُبْتُمْ فَلَكُمْ رُءُوسُ أَمْوَٰلِكُمْ لَا تَظْلِمُونَ وَلَا تُظْلَمُونَ ٢٧٩
Explanation:
The two readings (verb forms I and IV, respectively) amount to the same meaning: for the people who refuse to abandon usury to know collectively that they are facing war from God and His Messenger (ﷺ). The second reading makes this a matter they should announce to one another [Makki].
