Many are the societies We have destroyed for persisting in wrongdoing, leaving them in total ruin. ˹Many are˺ also the abandoned wells and lofty palaces!

﴿فَكَأَیِّن﴾ أي كم ﴿مِّن قَرۡیَةٍ أَهۡلَكۡتُهَا﴾ وفي قراءة {أَهۡلَكۡنَـٰهَا} ﴿وَهِیَ ظَالِمَةࣱ﴾ أَيْ أَهْلهَا بِكُفْرِهِمْ ﴿فَهِیَ خَاوِیَةٌ﴾ سَاقِطَة ﴿عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا﴾ سُقُوفهَا ﴿وَ﴾ كَمْ مِنْ ﴿بِئۡرࣲ مُّعَطَّلَةࣲ﴾ مَتْرُوكَة بِمَوْتِ أَهْلهَا ﴿وَقَصۡرࣲ مَّشِیدٍ ٤٥﴾ رَفِيع خَالٍ بِمَوْتِ أَهْله
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
